UAE petrol prices are going up by over 10 per cent in May

You might want to fuel up fast…

UAE petrol prices are set to increase by over 10 per cent in May 2019.

In May, drivers can expect to pay Dhs2.48 per litre for Super 98, up from Dhs2.23 in April. Special 95 will cost Dhs2.34 per litre, an increase of 23 fils from Dhs2.11. Diesel will also be more expensive this month than last, priced at Dhs2.53 per litre for May – that’s an increase of 4 fils.

Since February 2019, Super 98 has increased by over 50 fils per litre.

All prices include the VAT rate of 5 per cent.

The UAE’s Ministry of Energy first began setting fuel prices based on average global prices in August 2015. Before that, the price of petrol in the UAE was subsidised by the government, which shielded consumers from global fluctuations in the cost of petrol.

SUPER 98 PRICES SO FAR FOR 2019:

January: Dhs2

February: Dhs1.95

March: Dhs2.04

April: Dhs2.23

May: Dhs2.48
