1. Check out a new bar

LEXX is a brand new bar in Abu Dhabi , featuring a large outdoor terrace that offers spectacular views of the Corniche. Sports fan can head here as the main onyx bar will be broadcasting the biggest sporting events live on their screens. On the menu, you’ll find a wide selection of beverages that can be complemented with cheese and a charcuterie that are displayed in the two walk-in humidors.

2. Head to Abu Dhabi Family Week

Spend time with the family at Abu Dhabi Family Week – a fun-packed, educational event dedicated to children and family. The event runs for ten days starting from Thursday September 19 to Saturday September 28, 2019 and this weekend will see three days of The World of Nickelodeon taking place where children will get to to see all of their favourite Nickelodeon characters. They will also have the chance to vote for the winners of The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards with host American singer, songwriter, and dancer Jason Derulo. The awards will take place on Friday, September 20 at the Abu Dhabi’s National Exhibition Centre. The Want To Want Me hitmaker will be hosting the awards alongside YouTube star, Haifa Beseisso, and tickets for Friday are on sale priced from Dhs199.

3. Catch up with friends at Al Shorfa shisha lounge

If you want to get away from the bars and clubs this Friday and are just looking forward to some down-time with your mates, head to Al Shorfa at Beach Rotana. The shisha lounge is back after a summer hiatus and features a chic alfresco courtyard. It’s open daily from 6pm to midnight so head down this weekend for shisha and sharing plates.

4. Catch La Dolce Vita at Manarat Al Saadiyat Auditorium

Guest Conductor Simon Hilberding is in the capital’s Manarat Al Saadiyat Auditorium for a special musical performance of La Dolce Vita on Friday September 20. Leading a 15-piece NSO Strings, the 90-minute programme creates a musical journey which crosses many genres including popular classical pieces by Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi as well as Vaughn Williams, Debussy Brahms and Holst. More contemporary pieces include the Zoosters Breakout, Over the Rainbow, and the ever-popular Arabic song made famous by Fairous, Aini El Nai. Tickets cost Dhs100 onwards.

5. Pamper yourself at Anantara Spa

6. Enjoy a winter wonderland at Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi

Round up the family and attend the Froz-Tea Party at the Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi this Saturday. Held at the Shaleela Suite on the 2nd floor from 3pm to 5pm, there will be frosty themed sweet & savory delights and plenty of activities for the children including a DIY snowman station and other fun events. Grab a perfect ‘Gram worthy snap of your little ones against a snowy glacial backdrop, or with the singing snow princesses. The event is designed for children ages three or older, with under three’s being granted free entry when accompanied by an adult and paying sibling. 7. Do some good: Participate in World Cleanup Day

Abu Dhabi residents have the chance to do their bit for the environment this weekend by joining the World Cleanup Day movement – which is the world’s biggest waste collection movement. This year, the cleanup drive will take place at Aldar’s Reem Central Park and Al Muneera Beach Plaza in Abu Dhabi, from 5pm to 7 pm on Saturday September 21, 2019. The event is open to a limited number of people, so if you want to participate, register here for Reem Central Park  or here for Al Muneera Beach Plaza. You will receive a cleaning Day toolkit to help you along that will include a t-shirt, gloves and cleanup bags, along with an induction pack.
