There really is no rest for the wicked. After battling high winds and sandstorms to pull off a fantastic two-day event in Al Quoz in February, the Street Nights gang is taking the concept to The Walk at JBR for ten days.

Our pals at Hype crew is amazed at the transformation of JBR Beach in the past year, with the beach strip now boasting a fine selection of shops, restaurants and quirky cafés, kids’ play area, gym equipment, showers and changing rooms and the odd pop-up market. The recent three-day Urban Beats By The Beach event saw international skateboarders and acclaimed BMX riders fly in to the region for an adrenalin-pumping weekend full of daredevil stunts, and now Street Nights continue to bring urban culture to the masses.

Deep Crates Cartel chief James Lobito is one of the organisers. He revealed that Street Nights at The Walk will showcase 20 local and regional aerosol writers and street artists. It’ll also feature a night bazaar market, a b-boy battle and food trucks. And with James, aka Break DJ Lobito, curating the soundtrack and
his Deep Crates Cartel massive showcasing some of their favourite local acts and DJs, the music will be none too shabby either.

Hype contributor and graff artist about town, Sya One, said: “It’s not all about art, it’s about bringing cultures together.”

Street Nights DXB set for 10-days at The Walk, JBR

Sya added that Street Nights hoped to entice youngsters out of their homes to explore. “It’s about getting kids and teenagers away from their games consoles,” he said. “Rather than them sitting at home doing nothing productive, we want to encourage them to get creative. There will be something there to inspire everyone.”
