Dubai from the sky
We love UAE

What’s your hood? Are you a Marina person? Do you hang out in Jumeirah? Or are you more of an Al Quoz type? We all have our favourite neck of the woods where we like to shop, exercise, eat and drink, or just mooch about. But sometimes we can get stuck in a rut and rarely venture out of our familiar areas. Our Dubai neighbourhood guide aims to break down a few of those barriers and encourage you to seek out new parts of town. Read part one of our insider’s guide on Dubai’s neighbourhoods that’s filled with places to shop, places to eat and drink, things to do, plus those hidden gems that only locals know about. Parts two and three come later this summer.

If you want to get off the conveyor belt this month and spend a night swanning about a hotel room in a fluffy robe and slippers then take a look at our collection of Dubai staycations. We’ve sniffed out some fantastic hotel deals for the summer.

The What’s On office has been turbo-charged with caffeine this month as we’ve been exploring new cafés in the city. We found six cool new spots across town, all of which are bringing something to the table – mostly in a cute little espresso cup. We also have some clever tips on how to make coffee at home.

In our Eat section this month we have the verdict on two new burger joints, a conversation with a smokehouse expert, a sophisticated sports bar, and a review of La Residence, an elegant new French place that is set to rival the city’s best restaurants.

Elsewhere we stepped inside the strangely beautiful Butterfly World, tried a calisthenics class (which is difficult to both do and pronounce), and met the team behind a new healthy juice bar – anyone for a bottle of Feed The Wolf? Plus, there’s all the usual theatre and film previews, clubbing news, shopping ideas and our columnist Catboy letting rip on the topic of holidays.

Enjoy the issue.
