Our top pick of the movies out in cinemas this week is Hacksaw Ridge, a true story and World War II epic starring Andrew Garfield.

Here are all the new flicks you’ll be able to go see from today…

Hacksaw Ridge

Mel Gibson might be a flawed character (and that might be a gross understatement), but man does he know how to craft an epic film. Hacksaw Ridge is based on the true story of Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield) a deeply religious man who joined the army in WWII as a medic, despite being a conscientious objector who refused to touch a weapon. His story is stirring, but the battle scenes are not for the fainthearted – we imagine you’ll be watching some of them from behind your fingers. The star-studded cast includes Hugo Weaving, Sam Worthington and Vince Vaughn.

Shut In

A horror film with the kid from Room (Jacob Tremblay) and the moody teen from Stranger Things (Charlie Heaton)? Sign us up! Naomi Watts plays Naomi Watts, a child psychologist who looks after her catatonic son (Heaton) after he was paralysed in a car accident that also killed her husband. She takes in a foster kid (Tremblay) who wanders off one snowy night and is presumed dead. Or is he?! We’re never sure if the horror is real or all inside Watts’ head.
