There’s a public holiday coming up in the UAE, and it means a three day weekend for those working in both the private and public sector.

Next week will mark the Birth of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

The date of this holiday is called by the moon-sighting committee, and it has just been announced that we will all have Sunday December 11 off this year.

Here’s the official tweet from the Ministry of Human Resources confirming it:

This means Saturday night will be a dry night too: Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce has sent out a circular to hotels, resorts, sports club and tour boats today that states that they should:

“Refrain holding entertainment activities and parties as of Saturday 10/12/2016 from 5pm until Sunday 11/12/2016 6pm.”

This will mean there will be no loud music, alcohol served or big events from sunset Saturday to sunset Sunday, as per Dubai tradition out of respect for the Holy holiday.
