So, when can we move in?

If you’ve been hanging out at JBR recently, you’ll have noticed the world’s largest observation wheel starting to take shape on Bluewaters Island.

Now, a new video has given us an even better idea of what life on the Dhs6 billion island will be like when it’s complete… and we like what we see.

The clip shows how the island will be split into different sections — leisure and entertainment, retail, hotels and beach clubs, and residential.

Of course, the observation wheel — Ain Dubai (which roughly translates to the Dubai Eye) — will provide the epic centrepiece, at 210 metres high, with capsules so spacious you can stroll around inside them.

*You shouldn’t call this the Dubai Eye anymore…*
*We’re getting our very own Madame Tussauds in Dubai*

The private island will be connected to The Beach at JBR via a 265-metre pedestrian bridge, but there will also be access from Sheikh Zayed Road, as well as a monorail system.

There will be 10 residential buildings set on the waterfront, with 698 apartments, and 17 townhouses. For those with dirhams to burn, there are four ultra-luxury penthouses with private swimming pools and incredible views from every room.

Even the bathroom offers a spectacular floor-to-ceiling vista (if we lived there, we would probably never leave that bath, tbh).

The island will also boast two five-star hotels, and 150 retail and dining concepts.

When can you check it out? Well, in September last year it was announced that work on the Bluewaters Island access bridges was about 85 per cent complete.

The observation wheel is expected to open in 2018, and the residences are scheduled for handover during the first quarter of 2018.

In the meantime, we’ll just be over here on the other side dreaming about those luxury penthouses…
