And yup, it’s the Dubai Mall Apple Store…

After much build up and hype, the UAE’s press yesterday received a sneak peek into the hotly anticipated Dubai Mall Apple Store, due to open its doors to the public on Thursday 27 April.

The world over, the Cupertino company’s iconic retail outlets are chic, minimalist gathering places where one can pick up the latest iPhone or Macbook. To those in the know, however, they’ve also become havens for eager shoppers hungry for a free (and reliable) Wi-Fi connection.

Well, now the Dubai Mall store has another thing going for it aside from gratis internet – it boasts one of the best views around of the Dubai Fountain.

The 186ft (56m) curved storefront has a massive balcony – complete with automatically opening glass door panels – that overlooks the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain.

The carbon fibre ‘Solar Wings’ that line the front of Apple Dubai Mall are inspired by the traditional Arabic Mashrabiya

Speaking at the briefing, Angela Ahrendts, Senior Vice President of Retail, noted “We view our stores as a modern-day town square, where visitors come to shop, be inspired or learn to connect with others in their community,” she also added “And what better place to come together than overlooking Dubai’s epicenter, where the Dubai Fountain, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall meet. We are so honored to have a home at one of the world’s most incredible and dynamic intersections.”

An initiative entitled ‘Today at Apple’ will launch in conjunction with the new store, designed to promote on-location workshops and sessions across across photo, video, music, coding, art and design.

Honestly though, we can’t get over how ace the view is. Just look at it…
