The three-year, USD100m Atlantis project will makeover all 1,539 rooms and several of the hotel’s restaurants and bars too.

Atlantis The Palm is currently undergoing a major refurb, which kicked off two days ago and will see 50 rooms revamped every six weeks.

The new look will add 49-inch flat screen televisions, proximity reader key systems and more to every room.

There will be new carpet designs reminiscent of the ocean, marble basins in the bathrooms and free standing bathtubs (fancy hey). There are also plans to upgrade the balcony areas, although details are still being kept under wraps (boo).

An update of Atlantis’ all-day dining restaurant, Kaleidoscope, has already begun, and should re-open in September 2017. Further makeovers are planned for Ayamna Bar, Nasimi Beach and The Imperial Club.

It has been a good year so far for the hotel, with Serge Zaalof, chief operation officer of Atlantis Resorts & Residences commenting that the first 5 months of the year had “significantly exceeded expectations”.

“Our aim is to constantly innovate with the new room offering as well as the re-design of restaurants and bars we will wow our guests and exceed expectations,” added the COO.

The room renovation programme comes ahead of the launch of Atlantis’ second Dubai property, the USD1.4 billion Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences. Located next to the Atlantis resort, it will offer 231 residences and 795 new guest rooms and suites. But you may have to wait a while, as it’s planned to launch late 2019.
