The singer performs in Uzbek, Turkish, Arabic, Russian and Tajik…

She’s an absolute superstar in Uzbekistan, and also has a firm following in Turkey, and Yulduz Usmonova is heading to Dubai.

The renowned traditional singer and self-proclaimed “Queen of Central Asia” will perform at Madinat Theatre on Friday October 13 at 6pm.

You can expect her to sing in Uzbek, Turkish, Arabic, Russian and Tajik (aka, she’s a linguistic maestro), and the show will include a full band of musicians.

Word is half of the gig will be dedicated to traditional Uzbek tunes, and then half of it will be all about her more contemporary pop songs.

One thing’s for sure, Usmonova will definitely sing live: she’s always been vocal about her distaste over the fact that many younger Uzbek singers lip sync during shows.

You’ll definitely hear this, which is arguably her biggest hit:

You’ll pay Dhs250 for balcony tickets and between Dhs300 to Dhs400 for seats in the stalls.

Here’s a glimpse of what she sounds like live:

Tickets now on sale at Madinat Theatre website.
