Two big birthdays, a new ladies’ night and a one-off deal for teachers that’s too good to miss…

Looking for something to occupy your evenings this week (which could quite possibly be a short one)?

Not to worry, because there’s plenty going on in Dubai – whether it’s four or five days of work.

There’s a new ladies’ night at a swanky restaurant, birthday parties for two of Dubai’s popular hotspots, and free bottles for all those teachers feeling the back-to-school blues.

Here are eight things to do in Dubai this week…

Sunday September 17

1. Start the week with The Sunday Sessions

There’s a brand new nostalgic house night, The Sunday Sessions, launching tonight at Lucky Voice. Expect funky, vocal and uplifting house hits with DJ Natalie Brogan and DJ Danny Whitlock, plus Matt West bringing his sax sounds until 3am. Two-for-one drinks promotions will run from 8pm to 12am, too.

2. Get free drinks at a swanky new ladies’ night

The Japanese-Peruvian hotspot will be serving three complimentary cocktails and a selection of tapas for Dhs40 throughout the evening. Cocktails including a Lychee Martini and a Mia Margarita, while the tapas menu offers dishes such as spicy miso tuna tacos, black cod butter lettuce and yellowtail sashimi for Dhs40 each. There will also be old-school sets from David DeLuca and Jaymie Deville.

3. Try your hand at acting

The Hive in association with Tall Tales Production is casting for their upcoming show based on Sherlock Holmes. The play is scheduled to be staged at The Junction from January 18 to January 20, and all experience levels are encouraged to audition. A character outline sheet can be made available at the audition venue and budding actors will be asked to read from the play script. A prepared monologue (approximately 1-2 minutes) can be performed, however, this is not required.
