UPDATE: The Red Line is back to normal.

Hundreds of Dubai Metro passengers were stranded during the Monday morning rush hour due to a technical glitch.

Commuters had been reporting delays since around 7am, with long queues forming at stations along the Red Line (the Green Line was working fine).

Around midday, Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) released a statement on Twitter apologizing for the disruption.

Shortly after, the RTA said the service was back to normal.

Many passengers had taken to social media throughout the morning to report the delays.

Around 9am, one Twitter user said they saw the driverless metro being operated manually.

The metro delays have also put pressure on alternative forms of transport, with Twitter users reporting a shortage of RTA taxis on Monday morning.
