The Clean Up UAE campaign wants to get you thinking eco-friendly

This Saturday 16 December will see residents come out in force in what is expected to be the largest country-wide environmental clean up that the UAE has ever seen.

Organised by the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) under the patronage of Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, the Clean Up UAE initiative is designed to encourage people to think more about the environment around them, and what it takes to preserve it.

The day-long event will take place at the Al Ain Road, near the Dubai Outlet Mall, with this being the 16th year that the campaign has been successfully run.

The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan emphasised the importance of adapting to the environment on land and sea, which is not only a matter for government and official authorities, but one that concerns all,” said Al Mansouri in an official statement.

This is a sentiment that closely echoes that of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, who only last week chose to lead by example, volunteering to clean up the UAE’s seas.

Whether the Crown Prince will make an appearance on Saturday is anyone’s guess, but judging by how he seems to have recently taken to volunteering with gusto, we don’t see it as being outside the realm of possibility.
