The latest futuristic development for the force will launch by 2020…

Flying taxis, autonomous pods – Dubai is becoming one of the smartest and most futuristic cities on the planet. And Dubai Police are set to add to that with the introduction of a fleet of driverless patrol cars by 2020.

The deal, signed by Dubai Police and home-grown startup Acacus Technologies, will see Acacus produce a collection of self-driving taxis for the police force.

Dubai Police already have a pretty impressive fleet of patrol cars, which includes Aston Martins and Lamborghinis. So, we can only imagine that the introduction of these new smart vehicles will continue to allow Dubai Police be one of the most technologically advanced teams there is.

It’s expected that the new technology will be rolled out in phases, with the driverless vehicles in full operation by 2020.

“We are proud to contribute in making Dubai the global hub of technological innovation,” said Rashid Ahmed Bin Rasheed, chairman of the board of Acacus Group, according to a report by Gulf News.
