The iconic landmark is currently undergoing major repair work…

It’s no secret that Dubai’s Crown Prince is a keen traveller, often sharing photos of his adventures to Instagram. The Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower, and the Rockefeller Centre are just a few of the landmarks he’s managed to tick off his bucket list in recent times.

But one monument was a little worse for wear when HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum paid it a visit this week.

While on holiday in London, the royal shared a snap of Big Ben to his Instagram Stories. Now, the iconic clocktower is not exactly looking like its best self at the moment – it’s currently undergoing major repair work which is expected to last until 2021.

Shrouded in scaffolding, the landmark was almost completely unrecognisable in Sheikh Hamdan’s photo.

However, the avid photographer’s caption was one of sympathy for the ailing structure: “Get well soon,” he wrote.

Thankfully, Sheikh Hamdan has in fact seen Big Ben in all its glory. He shared this picture of the landmark last June:

#london ?? #Canon ?

Happier times. Like Sheikh Hamdan, we’re sure the people of London are looking forward to Big Ben making a full recovery.
