Go head-to-head against other petrolheads…

Attention petrolheads of Dubai, if you’re a fan high octane racing you’ll want to head to Dubai Autodrome next week for some seat-of-your-pants roll racing action.

Never heard of roll racing? It’s a particular kind of motorsport that sees two drivers square off against each other from a rolling start of 40km/hr, heading into the main straight before hitting 250m of pure exhilarating driving.

Sounds like a blast to watch, no? Well, it gets even better because if you fancy yourself a dab hand at racing you can totally sign up to take part yourself.

Roll Racing DXB will take place on Thursday, August 2 and is open to all cars and SUVs to battle it out on Dubai Autodrome’s floodlit main straight.

Registration costs Dhs420 (with a 15-per cent discount if you register online) and only street-legal vehicles are allows to enter. That means all vehicles will be inspected on site and no burnouts or full slick tyres are allowed. Plus, you’ll be required to wear a seatbelt and helmet at all times.

Taking the races off the roads and into a safe, controlled environment ensures maximum fun for those participating and spectators, who can watch from the stands for just Dhs20.

Reckon you can hack it in your Yaris? Head over to the Dubai Autodrome website for more info.
