Want to dine at some of the city’s top spots for less? Keen to learn the tricks of the trade from a celebrated chef? Read on…

Downtown hotels JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai and the Renaissance Downtown Hotel, Dubai have teamed up to launch ‘Neighbourhood Restaurant Week’ this September.

Running from Sunday September 23 to Saturday October 6, the two-week long festival will offer set menus at great-value prices across 13 restaurants.

As well as offering set menus priced at Dhs130, Dhs160 and Dhs190, there will be a number of interactive experiences from workshops to chefs tables happening across the fortnight-long festival.

So which restaurants are involved?

The ‘pubs and grubs’ category includes Bridgewater Tavern, Aqua Pool Bar and La Farine cafe, which can all be found at JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai. Set menus at these three will be priced at a bargain Dhs130.

For Dhs160, you’ll be able to enjoy a set menu at five casual dining restaurants including Middle Eastern restaurant Bhar, Japanese Izakaya, Garden Peruvian restaurant and Italian Basta! by David Myers.

If it’s fine dining you’re after, there’s five restaurants to choose from there too. Priced at Dhs190 for a set menu, you can dine at Prime68 steakhouse, Tong Thai, Indian restaurant Rang Mahal, Bleu Blanc by David Myers and even the legendary Morimoto’s self-titled restaurant.

But it’s not just discounted menus on offer.

You can experience a chef’s table with the ‘gypsy chef’ himself as David Myer’s  returns to Bleu Blanc for four nights from September 24. The intimate Chef Table is priced at Dhs350 per person, and limited to six seats.

Myer’s will also be putting on a pasta making masterclass on September 29 at his Italian restaurant Basta! – it’s Dhs120 per person for the two-hour class.

But he’s not the only chef in town. The ‘Iron chef’ Morimoto will be at his Downtown outpost to launch the Morimoto Friday brunch on September 28, which is priced at Dhs499 for the house package.
