It kicked off the non-profit’s ‘Summer of Giving’ campaign…

The UAE Food bank is one of the country’s best humanitarian initiatives. The non-profit organisation partners with hotels and restaurants, food-manufacturing companies and supermarkets to take surplus food and distribute it to those in need, both in and outside of the UAE.

Its most recent ‘Summer of Giving’ campaign kicked off with a bang earlier this week, handing out hundreds of meals, water and cold drinks to workers around Dubai.

On Sunday, August 12 volunteers distributed 1,000 meals in accommodations in Al Muhaisnah 2, much to the delight and appreciation of the labourers living there. The team will now move on to the Roads And Transport Authority workers’ housing in Al Warsan where they will pass out 500 meals on Tuesday.

Sunday’s food drive was caught on film and posted to the Dubai Municipality Instagram feed – it shows volunteers and workers braving the hot summer sun to come together for a good purpose. Check it out below:
