A brand new neighbourhood has been unveiled on the border of Abu Dhabi and Dubai which is promising to bring riviera-style living to the UAE.

The Dhs15 billion ($4.08bn) project by Abu Dhabi-based developer Imkan will span an impressive 370 hectares and 3.4km of beachfront, separated into three different districts in Ghantoot.

The three districts will be called Al Jurf Gardens, Jiwar Al Qasr and Marsa Al Jurf, and will each come with their own distinct architecture and separate amenities.

As part of the wider neighbourhood, residents will be able to enjoy two marinas with private berths, a town centre, hotels, shops, a wellness resort and even a museum.

Leafy parks, uninterrupted stretches of beaches, beach clubs and restaurants, community centres, mosques and a private school are also set to be built amongst the development.

Construction of the new neighbourhood will begin next year, starting with the Dhs2 billion Al Jurf Gardens. This first phase of the project, which will comprise of 292 villas and plots, is expected to be completed by 2021.

The Ghantoot project is one of two recently announced new developments across Dubai. Jebel Ali is also set to get a new beachfront destination called Marsa Meydan, which promises ‘Boardwalk style living’ (think LA’s Newport Beach) created around a huge lagoon-style, climate-controlled Marina..
