This isn’t something we see every day…

The wet weather forecast for much of the UAE has finally hit Dubai, and produced something rather special – a rainbow.

The UAE has been lashed by heavy rain and thunderstorms over the past couple of days, with flash floods leading to road closures in parts of Fujairah, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.

On Tuesday morning, light rain was reported over the Palm Jumeirah and Jumeirah, with moderate to heavy rain over Mirdif.

Around 10am, the What’s On team looked out the window of our office in Media City and spotted a stunning rainbow, right over Atlantis The Palm. Naturally, our first instinct was to take to the ‘gram…

Here’s a satellite image that shows the cloud cover and rain over the UAE on Tuesday morning – green means clouds, light blue means drizzle, blue means light rain, yellow/orange means moderate rain and red means strong rain.

The National Centre for Meteorology says today’s weather will be “cloudy in general”, with convective clouds forming especially over northern and eastern areas. This means we could see more rain and even thunderstorms throughout the morning.

Dubai Police have urged motorists to drive carefully due to unstable weather conditions and rain.
