It will host a market, outdoor cinema, snow park, and a famous sculpture…

It’s that time of year in Dubai when we’re making the most of being able to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. And it looks like one of the best places to do so will be Downtown Dubai, which is hosting a massive festival over the winter months.

Dubbed #MyDowntownDubai, the festival will be centred around Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard. The 22-week programme will feature art installations, activations, live entertainment and events, kicking off with some festive fun.

Here are just some of the highlights…

Festive decorations

Want to get into the festive spirit? You’ll find some of the most beautiful decorations in Dubai along Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, including a collection of giant golden reindeer adorned with fairy lights.

Snow Park

Burj Plaza will be home to a Snow Park with real falling snow. Guests can enjoy activities like tubing, snowball fights and curling, or chill out inside a giant snow globe. The Snow Park will be open until December 25, with free entry from 5pm to 10pm on weekdays and until 11pm on weekends. Activities are offered on a pay-to-play basis.

Downtown Market

An outdoor market on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard will operate twice monthly until the end of April. The market will kick off with a festive edition, with pop-up stalls selling crafts, toys, and other seasonal treats. Upcoming markets will take place on December 14 & 15, and December 21 & 22.

Outdoor Cinema

You’ll be able to catch family favourite films on the outdoor cinema screen, set inside modern container park Downtown Eats. As the name would suggest, there’s food involved, too. Follow the Downtown Eats Facebook page for movie screening times.

Art installations

Downtown Dubai will host some pretty amazing art pieces over the next few months. You’ll be able to take the perfect Instagram snap in front of the famous ‘Wings of Mexico’ sculpture by Jorge Marin. Other works include the colourful ‘Wild Kong’ by Richard Orlinski, and ‘Love Me’ by Richard Hudson, a giant silver reflective heart overlooking The Dubai Fountain and Burj Khalifa.

There’s plenty more where that came from…  for more information on #MyDowntownDubai keep an eye on Facebook and Instagram.
