A 2.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded on the Richter scale in the UAE on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a Tweet from the National Center of Meterology (NCM), minor tremors were felt by local residents, although no damage was done.

The minor earthquake was recorded just after 4pm on the afternoon of Wednesday December 12.

The NCM identified the earthquake coming from East Masafi, on the border of Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

Back in October, residents of the Northern Emirates reported feeling ‘tremors’ after an earthquake was recorded in North East Bandar Abbas, south of Iran – however the NCM confirmed at the time that the tremors were not connected to that earthquake.
