Temperatures as low as 5 degrees were recorded overnight…

We reckon at least 10 of your recent conversations have started with ‘Isn’t is freezing in Dubai at the minute?’. And while it hasn’t quite been freezing, temperatures as low as 5 degrees celsius were recorded overnight in the UAE.

A chilly 4.9 degrees was recorded in Raknah, near Al Ain, while at Jebel Jais mountain, it was a similar 5 degrees at the coldest point overnight.

In Dubai, temperatures dipped as low as 13 degrees in the night, with highs of 27 degrees expected across the UAE today, Wednesday January 23. Lows of 6 degrees are expected in the mountains, while internal temperatures will dip to just 8 degrees.

Looking to the weekend, the National Centre of Meterology (NCM) has advised of a ‘fair to partly cloudy’ forecast on Thursday and Friday, with ‘fair temperatures’ through the day that will dip to ‘relatively cold to cold’ heading into the night.

Long-range forecasts on AccuWeather predict that highs will peak at 26 to 27 degrees on Thursday through to Saturday, with lows of 17 and 18 degrees.

It’s a similar forecast as the month goes on, with temperatures likely to stay around the low to mid 20s throughout January.
