In a bid to promote economic growth, the UAE is set to waive or amend fees on over 1,500 federal government services.

The decision was made by the UAE Cabinet, and in a statement on Tuesday May 28, the move was described as something that will ‘enhance the national economy, reduce costs to business owners and increase the competitiveness of the UAE’.

Although details of which government services fees were not given, the statement said that it covers services provided by the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization.

Details on when the amended fees will come into affect were not given.

As well as balancing the revenue system of the government in parallel with the tax system, the UAE Cabinet said that the decision will contribute to ‘attracting more foreign investments and position the UAE as a hub for business’, according to the statement.
