Two female climbers from Dubai have conquered Mount Everest within a day of each other. Fatima Deryan, a Lebanese national, and Dolores Al Shelleh, originally from Jordan, both reached the summit last week. The monumental 8,848m climb sees climbers face temperatures that drop below -40 degrees Celsius.

Both women have been documenting their journeys on their personal Instagram accounts.

Fatima Deryan, 26, was the first of the two women to reach the top on Wednesday May 22, and in doing so became the first Lebanese women to climb Everest.

“I thought summiting was a major bonus of my expedition but it turned out that I made it as the 1st Lebanese Woman! Unplanned, unexpected, it was the cherry on top of my journey,” Deryan captioned an emotional Instagram post after the feat.
