9 brand new brunches to try in Dubai this weekend


For when it’s time to freshen things up…

Don’t get us wrong, we love the long-standing ever-popular brunches that continue to deliver every single week. But sometimes it’s nice to try something new, be the first to tell everyone ‘I just tried this great new brunch’ and become the friend that has the inside scoop. Well we’re here to help you be that friend…

Here are nine fresh brunches to test out.

Shumatsu at Taikun

Since Toko in Vida Downtown relaunched as Taikun, it brought with it a number of exciting new events worth checking out. Shamatsu (Japanese for weekend) is the lively new Friday brunch taking place from 12.30pm to 4pm every week. There’s a big focus on the food, which is of course pan-Asian cuisine, promising ‘steaming baskets of gourmet dim sum and sushi hand-rolled by the kilo.’ You can also expect sashimi, tataki, robata and classic duck wraps.

Aquaholic at Shades

If your idea of the perfect summer is sitting poolside with a cocktail in hand, then Aquaholic is the brunch for you. Located in Address Dubai Marina, the lively brunch promises a party vibe, a wide selection of international dishes including a maki roll station, slider station and fry-up station. The brunch runs from 2pm to 6pm every Friday and costs Dhs245 with soft drinks and Dhs345 with house beverages.

House of Whatever at Barasti

The Barasti summer tent has gone up, and with it arrived a concept which will run throughout the warmer months. House of Whatever is the spontaneous theme which will have guests guessing and ready to ‘expect the unexpected’. The new Friday brunch costs just Dhs199 for three hours of unlimited bites and beverages. On the menu, expect to find classic Barasti dishes including wings, dim sum and dumplings, mini steaks, peri-peri chicken and pizza. Surprise giveaways will be distributed throughout the brunch, as well as tunes provided by a live band.

Miss Chief at Muchachas

Be transported to the streets of Cancun with this Mexican fiesta brunch. The new menu comes at a lower price and includes four rounds of delectable authentic bites, including tacos, quesadillas and can’t-stop-won’t-stop fresh guacamole dip. The drinks on offer include frozen or iced margaritas with flavours ranging from watermelon & raspberry, to pineapple & basil and taramind & jalepeño. You can also choose from a range of Mexican beer, mocktails or wine. If you’re not ready to end the fun there, the party continues after-brunch with unlimited drinks from 4pm to 7pm for only Dh99.

Vivacious at Vivaldi

If the thought of drinking in daylight fills you with dread and confusion then why not try this new evening brunch? Vivacious runs every Friday from 6.30pm to 10pm and offers a selection of tempting Italian dishes from live cooking stations. The brunch costs only Dhs249 with house beverages but if you’re quick and book before the prior Wednesday, you can enjoy a 25 per cent discount.

If you haven’t been to this Portuguese eatery yet, trust us when we say the terrace is stunning. A calm infinity pool casually sits in-front of an endless sea view, but if you can’t handle the heat the inside is equally as beautiful, with views of Downtown Dubai from the other side. Launching on June 21, the brunch costs Dhs400 including drinks and will run every Friday from 12.30pm to 4pm.

Let’s Babiole at Babiole

Al Habtoor City hotspot Babiole is back with a brand new look, and thankfully, it’s bringing back its popular party brunch ‘Let’s Babiole’ too. Promising a bigger and better experience than before, expect a lively party vibe, and don’t be surprised to find yourself dancing on the table by the time last orders are called.

Legasea at Ammos

Fancy an indoor brunch that still has those mesmerising beachy views? Legasea at Ammos Greek is the new Friday evening brunch by the beach. It offers up traditional Greek dishes including homemade tzatziki, Greek salad, octopus ksidato and fried kalamarakia as well as platters of fresh meat or seafood. The scene is set by the resident DJ spinning a series of ‘island tunes’ while guests mentally transport to their favourite European destination.

Our final brunch is another evening affair. New neighbourhood gastropub, Distillery, is launching its brunch this weekend and it’s all about taking you back to the prohibition. With old-fashioned drinks and contemporary food, you won’t find any trays of questionable shots or dancing on tables at this sophisticated fun brunch.
