Prime members in the UAE receive free delivery on millions of items, unlimited access to Prime Video, plus exclusive member deals for Dhs140 a year.

Following the official launch of Amazon.ae on May 1, Amazon has now announced the launch of Amazon Prime in the UAE.

With more than 100 million paid members, amazon.ae/prime – which is available now in the UAE in both in English and Arabic (a world-first for Amazon) – gives customers access to Amazon Prime Video, free shipping, exclusive deals on Prime Day, Amazon’s global deal-shopping event, and a variety of other Amazon-specific services.

UAE residents will either get to sign up for a yearly subscription of Dhs140, or sign up for limited-time offer of Dhs12 per month until October 31 (Dhs16 per month thereafter).

For many, the service is a no-brainer for the shipping perks alone, but there’s a lot more to a Prime membership than free shipping and streaming services. Here’s a look at the main benefits…

Shipping benefits

Free next day delivery across the UAE with no minimum purchase on Amazon’s ever- growing range of of products. Plus, most residents will benefit from a 50 per cent discount on Same Day delivery for hundreds of thousands of products in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al-Ain and Ajman.

Free delivery in 6 to 9 business days for international orders over Dhs100 on 5 million Prime eligible products shipped from Amazon US.

Entertainment benefits

Access to Amazon Prime Video where members can stream or download award-winning movies and TV episodes including Amazon Originals such as The Grand Tour, and All or Nothing: Manchester City, and a host of Bollywood movies and shows, too.

Check out Amazon original motoring show The Grand Tour with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May.

Access to Twitch Prime where members have access to a selection of free video games.

Other benefits

Exclusive access to special deals from the world’s most popular brands, and be eligible to shop on Prime Day, Amazon’s global shopping event exclusively for Prime members, which is typically held during the summer each year.

Talking directly to What’s On about the announcement, Jamil Ghani, Vice President, Prime and Marketing International, Amazon said: “We’re really excited to launch Amazon Prime in the UAE. The membership is the premium subscription at Amazon bringing together all of our best innovations across the company.”

“Every member should enjoy what we like to call disproportionate value from their membership. What you pay in should come back to you in shipping savings, shopping exclusives and the best in entertainment,” he added.

What about any additional benefits that members could expect in future?

“I can’t announce anything specific right now, but we start in every location with compelling benefits tailored made for that geography and then we always evolve and add. Just look at other locations like Australia. We just launched Amazon Music there.”

It certainly seems like this is just the beginning for Amazon in the UAE.

Residents can experience Prime by signing up for a free one-month trial at amazon.ae/prime.
