Yes, actually…

If you like to be greeted by a smiling barista when grabbing your morning coffee, this one might not be for you: a cafe run by robots is set to open its doors soon in Dubai.

Aptly called RoboCafe, the coffee shop won’t have any human workers, and will open its doors imminently in Dubai’s Festival City.

But don’t get too carried away. While your vision of RoboCafe might be hoards of human-like robots wandering around taking orders, the reality is a little different.

RoboCafe will be operated by three robotic arms that will follow fixed paths to deliver food and drink to customers after they have placed an order. According to a statement, the robot arms will also perform light & musical shows to entertain guests enjoying a morning, or afternoon brew.

Here’s a sneak peek at what they’ll look like:

Customers will place their order through a tablet installed near the entrance, and then the robot arms will work to produce their order.

At the moment, we’re not sure if the menu will include food and beverage, or just beverages. We’re also unclear as to whether there will be a separate kitchen run by chefs to help prepare food

We’re suitably intrigued…
