Some of these are as cold as ice…

All everyone seems to talk about these days is the weather in Dubai. And you can’t be blamed… we’re in the midst of the hottest months of the year.

With at least two months of the summer left to face, we’ve rounded up a list of spa treatments that not only will relax you but will leave you feeling cool as a cucumber.

Here are six cool spa treatments to help you chill out through the scorching summer months in Dubai…

1. Narikela scrub

Where: Jiva Spa
How much: Dhs400 for 45 minutes

The main ingredient of this treatment is coconut oil, every healthy hipster’s favourite ingredient (except avocado). The massage is soothing and moisturising, and according to the spa’s Ayurvedic principles, the overall effect is cooling on the body.

Taj Hotel, Business Bay, Dubai, daily, 9am to 10pm (last booking 8.30pm for a one hour treatment). Tel: (04) 438 3100.  jivaspa.tajhotels.com

2. Pevonia anti free-radical face treatment

Where: Tips & Toes
How much: Dhs420 for 75 minutes
The Dubai summer heat can make anyone feel dehydrated and while we can drink water to quench our thirst, our skin needs a little more TLC. Tips & Toes are offering a facial treatment that will help combat dry, dehydrated skin by infusing the skin with vitamins A, D and E, that will also fight free-radicals that cause premature ageing. The bi-thermal treatment mask first warms the skin to promote vitamin absorbency and then cools to seal in hydration.

3. Enter the cryo

Where: Jumeirah Emirates Towers and Dubai Ladies Club
How much: Prices vary

Cryo is a high-tech spa at Emirates Towers and Dubai Ladies Club that offers facial and body cryotheraphy treatments that are said to do a little bit of everything – from kick-starting weight loss, reducing cellulite to helping inflamed muscles recover. Using temperatures as low as -120 to -160 degrees celsius, the short-term freezing of the skin’s surface leads to the immediate release of enhanced levels of endorphins and adrenaline. The cryotherapy also offers incredible benefits in overall health and wellness, including anti-ageing. Guests wear disposable underwear and stand in a tall chamber filled with cryogenically cooled air for three minutes. You can also try a ten-minute cryo glow facial that’ll see chilly air blasted on to your face in a bid to activate collagen production and boost elasticity.

The Boulevard, Emirates Towers, Dubai, daily 10am to midnight. Tel: (04) 351 8300.
Dubai Ladies Club, Dubai, Tue to Sun 9am to 9pm, Mon 10am to 9pm. Tel: (04) 349 9922. cryo.com

4. Clear skin facial

Where: Talise Spa, Jumeirah Emirates Towers
How much: Dhs563 for 60 minutes

Is the summer causing your skin to become of control? Are you breaking out more often? Then this facial is the right treatment to get your problems rectified. Heat and humidity intensify oil production which lead to break outs, so the clear skin facial uses cucumber which reduces acne lesions and controls sebum production. The facial lasts 60-minutes and will leave you feeling cool as a cucumber when you leave.

Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, daily 9am to 10pm. Tel: (04) 319 8181. jumeirah.com

5. Aloe vera hair treatment

Where: That Hair Tho (JLT)
How much: Dhs150 (Dhs80 additional for blow dry)

The vegan friendly hair and beauty salon recently launched an aloe vera scalp treatment that will leave your hair feeling soft, shiny and thoroughly hydrated. The aloe vera plant is kept inside the salon itself where qualified stylists and technicians can extract fresh and 100 per cent natural aloe vera gel as and when required. Not only will this treatment induce a cooling effect on your scalp, it also removes dead cell build up and help clean pores which in turn promotes faster hair growth, reduces brittleness and moisturises the hair for less hair loss and breakage.

That Hair Tho (THT), BO4, The Dome Building, Cluster N, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Mon to Sat, 9am to 10pm. Tel: (04) 589 6679. thtworld.me

6. Oriental foot reviver

Where: InterContinental Dubai Festival City
How much: Dhs200 during summer (originally Dhs300) for 30 minutes

Your cool experience will begin upon arrival at the spa, with a serving of cold ginger and lemongrass tea. From there, the oriental foot reviver treatment uses a mint flavoured cooling cream to sooth deep reflex points and help revive tired feet. It also helps boosts circulation while nourishing the skin with jojoba oil. You can either take this treatment in combination with any other body treatment or on its own.
