No more on-the-spot decisions about chicken or beef…

Living in the UAE means you’ll likely have had experienced more than your fair share of Emirates flights, and that signature question ‘chicken or beef?’ when it comes to in-flight meal times.

Well, that question looks set to be no more, as Emirates will soon be introducing the option to pre-book your in-flight meal, meaning no surprises when your preferred option has run out.

When the service is introduced, Emirates passengers will be able to select their meal option between five days and 24-hours prior to their scheduled flight. You won’t go hungry if you don’t pre-book though, as there will still be the option to order your meal during the flight.

Although no launch date has been confirmed yet, Joost Heymeijer, Senior Vice President of Emirates Inflight Cateringt told Dubai Eye listeners that Emirates “will be introducing pre-order meals at some stage, a bit later on this year.”

The comments came as part of a wider discussion in which Joost Heymeijer talked about Emirate’s commitment to making the food served in-flight healthier and reducing food wastage.

Heymeijer also mentioned that when their Premium Economy Class launches, these passengers will be able to select their meals from the Business Class offerings.

The option to pre-order vegetarian and dietary-specific meals is already available when booking an Emirates flight.
