Parents, here’s one to add to your radar. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has announced that eight new schools are set to open in Dubai by September 2020.

As per a statement released by the KHDA, state news agency wam revealed that over 13,000 new seats will be made available, providing parents with more education choices for their children across Dubai.

Mohammed Darwish, CEO of Permits and Compliance sector at KHDA, stated that from the eight schools, “a total of five schools will welcome students from the new academic year this year and an additional three are expected to open next year.”

The schools opening this year are opening in loctaions including Al Twar 2, Al Qusais, Jumeirah Village Triangle, Al Quoz, and Jebel Ali.

Mohammed Darwish also stated that the opening of the new schools “will further strengthen Dubai’s private education sector and add to the wide variety of educational offerings available to parents.”

Dubai has already seen an increase in the number of schools offering good or better quality education, with an increase from 38 schools in 2008 to 119 this year.

Of those, 41 new schools opened in the emirate in the last three years alone.

The new schools are a result of a strong demand from parents for innovative education offerings. The newer schools will focus on niche study areas ranging from environmental education, sustainability and arts, to innovation and technology.

Also a reminder to parents that the new academic year for most schools in the UAE was supposed to start this Sunday, September 1, 2019 however, thanks to the upcoming public holiday, students will now return to school one day later on Monday, September 2, 2019.
