ITV Choice channel won’t be available to du customers from August 20

It’s disappointing news for fans of British soaps and game shows…

If you’re a du customer for your home TV, take note: ITV Choice (channel 227) will no longer be available to you from August 20.

First reported by The National, du announced the news to its customers via email, but did not cite the reason for the sudden change.

“Starting from 20 August, the content provider will no longer offer ITV Choice (227) in the region. The channel will automatically be removed from your package. Sorry for the inconvenience.”

When one UAE resident took to Twitter to address the email, the official du Twitter account responded that they will “address it to our relevant team and update you”.

ITV Choice is popular with British Expats in the UAE, and soap opera fans thanks to its extensive coverage of British soap operas such as Coronation Street and Emmerdale, game shows including The Chase and Big Star’s Bigger Star and period dramas such as Victoria.

Although du didn’t make it clear whether it was an ITV decision, or du one, it doesn’t appear as though Etisalat customers will be loosing the channel.

On the official Etisalat website, channel 655 is still listed as ITV Choice.
