A new month brings two brand-new shows, and they’re taking it old school…

If you haven’t seen one of Burj Khalifa’s compelling light shows, it’s really something to be marvelled at. Complete with the world’s highest LED panel, the world’s tallest building offers daily shows for residents and tourist to enjoy every evening.

In the past, the shows have covered many themes including the 99 Names of Allah, Time and Progression, and Magic Innovations. For September, two new themes have been created to give viewers a look at days gone by.

The first, designed by artist Anthony Birland, is called “Memory Lane”. The throwback-style display aims to capture the nostalgia of the 1980s and 90s, with retro games, electronics and memorabilia flashing up on the skyscraper.

In a bid to remind people of their youth, Birland hope spectators will be taken back to a time when life was easy and carefree. Set against an uplifting beat, floppy disks, space invaders and joysticks fall from the top of the tower before bouncing up from the base.

Not content with just one brand-new show, the Burj Khalifa will also display a second exciting show called “Summer Done”. The show has been created by artist Karl Taylor Knight, who’s work is known for being very colourful and abstract.

Themed around the fun of summer days coming to a close, you can expect a bright and colourful affair, with watermelon and seasonal fruit, accompanied by sunny beaches, all set to a lively, fun soundtrack.

Visit each day between 7.45pm and 10.45pm and catch the free shows every hour Sunday to Wednesday and every half hour Thursday to Saturday.
