Can’t decide between savoury and sweet? New York transplant Clinton St has you covered with their fried chicken and waffles, served with honey-Tabasco sauce and warm maple butter (Dhs68). They offer a ‘breakfast for dinner’ menu too, you can tuck into American comfort food whenever the mood strikes.

The Scene

Nailing the perfect hollandaise sauce is not easy but the crew at The Scene have it down. A case in point: the eggs Florentine (Dhs49) with roasted mushrooms, spinach hollandaise and crispy onions, or the rich and rewarding braised beef Benedict (Dhs59) with silk-smooth hollandaise and red onion jam.

The Irish Village

Bounty Beets

From the Insta-perfect Millennial pink décor to the feel-good menu of vegan and gluten-free dishes, bounty Beets outs the beauty into breakfast. Try the I Yam What I Yam sweet potato pancakes (Dhs65) or a raspberry and coconut bowl with blue spirulina (Dhs50), and watch the likes skyrocket on your feed.

Tom & Serg

If there’s one man who’s shaped the breakfast scene in Dubai, it’s Australian chef Tom Arnel. Visit the industrial-chic eatery that started it all, Tom & Serg, for his innovative take on cafe fare, such as the Aussie Benedict (Dhs72) with braised wagyu beef and smoked onion relish, or a Middle Eastern twist on smashed avo (Dhs65), pepped up with marinated green tomato, Persian feta, dukkah, parsley and pomegranate dressing.

Nightjar Coffee

This boutique roaster case a wide net for culinary inspiration. Xero in on the Sri Lankan-style hopper with trout and fresh coconut sambal (Dhs38), a cup-like crepe made from rice flour and coconut with a just-set egg in the centre. And don’t miss their excellent nitro coffee on tap.

Tania’s Teahouse

Another of Dubai’s most photogenic cafes is this dreamy confection of pale pink, rose gold and mother of pearl. Tanis’a sidhes are just as pretty as her decor, with the pastel-hued mermaid toast (Dhs35), rainbow-bright beetroot hummus (Dhs40), and Oreo pancake stack (Dhs45) all vying for attention.

The Full English

The Sum of Us

For a beefed up version of the Full English, Our Big Breakfast (Dhs86) is brimming with organic eggs, beef sausages, beef bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and spinach. Another drinking house turning our a cracking breakfast is Fibber Magee’s near the World Trade Centre. The Fibber Magee’s breakfast (Dhs61) boasts sausage, bacon, hash browns, baked beans, mushrooms, black and white pudding, your choice of eggs and toasted or fried bread. For breakfast on the run, order a bap crammed with bacon sausage and egg (Dhs35).

If you’re craving a taste of the Ol’ Blighty, go for the Full English (Dhs65)at London Dairy. It’s a nostalgic combination of poached or fried eggs, veal bacon, beans, sausages, hash browns, mushrooms and toast.

The team behind Bistro des Arts have brought their nouse to Damac Hills, creating a family-friendly eatery overlooking the golf course. Boston Lane

This Bijou bolthole in The Courtyard is a go-to for bolognese-loaded toasties that taste like home (Dhs38), but when er’re feeling like something a little more virtous, it’s the acai berry bowl with almond milk, chia and cacao nibs (Dhs45) that draws us in. Pair it with a vegan beetroot latte (Dhs25) to really up the feel-good factor.

Single Fin

Refuel after a morning on the sand at this laidback cafe, tucked inside Surf House Dubai. Light and bright highlights include the Mavericks organic acai bowl (Dhs42), topped with housemade granola and fans of fruit. Order it with a scoop of homemade peanut butter for an extra protein hit.

Friends Avenue

This perennially popular JLT cafe offers a trio of acai bowls (Dhs40). There’s the classic combo with granola, berries and banana, the nutty professor with cacao nibs, roasted peanuts and chia, and the hello from Hawaii adorned with tropical fruits. For an acai fix straight to your door, order from sister project Acai and the Tribe on Deliveroo.

Myocum

Named after the lush hinterland surrounding Byron Bay, this urban-chic eatery has a decidedly Aussie accent. Order the high on acai bowl (Dhs49) with banana, mango, berries, homemade granola, goji and coconut, or the wholesome Myocum porridge (Dhs57) made with quinoa and coconut milk – and feel smug for the rest of the day.

Kulture House

For a modern take on the traditional Arabic breakfast, visit this uber-cool cafe and concept store in Jumeirah 1. Available all day, the mezzeh platter (Dhs55) is a moreish assortment of meloui flatbread, olives, whipped ricotta, harissa-spiced tahini, honey and melon jam. And don’t forget a side of halloumi fries with truffle aoili.

The Farm

When we need to recharge our batteries, The Farm at Al Barari beckons. Here, on the breezy terrace overlooking lush gardens and bubbling ponds, linger over an exceptional Arabic breakfast (Dhs98) of foul mefames, labneh, grilled halloumi, eggs to your liking and pillowy pita bread.

Arabian Tea House

This atmospheric gem in Old Dubai is the perfect spot to take friends and family when they’re in town. Order the local breakfast tray (Dhs75) loaded with cheese, date syrup, greens and balaleet, an Emirati specialty of spiced vermicelli with egg, all ready to be scooped up with swathes of khameer bread straight from the oven.

Sikka Cafe

For a protein-packed Arabic breakfast, order the foul jar (Ds22) from Zaroob. The boras beans and chickpea dish is served in a traditional steel jar, and is mixed with tahini, olive oil, parsley, onions and diced tomatoes. Or go big with a piping hot layered pastry that’s oozing with Kraft cheese and honey (Dhs34). It’s so perfect, so self-indulgent, and so outrageously calorific.
