This is “wheely” good news…

If you’ve ever been late to a flight in Dubai you’ll know the stress of running through one of the world’s busiest airports. If you’re flying out of Gate B, Terminal 3 anytime soon you might spot a new way to cruise around the airport.

Dubai International Airport (DXB) has just launched a new fleet of free taxis available for anyone to use at their leisure. Whether you’re looking for an easier way to get to your gate, or you just want to check out all of the retail and restaurants on offer, there are now 15 free taxis ready and waiting to assist.

The bright yellow buggies have eight seats and will stop at designated check-points for passengers to take their ride. Dedicated staff will be on-hand to help guide passengers to the nearest taxi stop and offer more information about the service.

DXB has announced plans to expand this fleet in order to serve more passengers across the entire airport. ‘TaxiDXB’ will give priority use to families, pregnant travellers and the elderly but everyone is welcome to use the complimentary service.

The service comes as part of DXB Airport’s plans to become a hub for entertainment, hospitality and culture. Earlier in the year, the airport announced a DJ residency with local DJ duo Hollaphonic, as part of its MusicDXB platform.

Dubai International Airport has been named the busiest airport for international travel since it took over from London Heathrow in 2014, with 89.1 million passengers in 2018 alone.
