The World Tour race will travel through all seven Emirates of the UAE…

Calling  Dubai’s keen cyclists, put down your helmets – this is one race coming that you’re going to want to spectate at.

Huge road cycling race, UAE Tour, part of the UCI World Tour, is set to return to Dubai in February 2020 for its second edition.

Running from February 23 to 29, 2020, the tour will see top sport industry cyclists from around the world take part in a seven-day race through the seven Emirates of the UAE, with a goal to unite the different communities in each Emirate.

The only WorldTour race in the UAE, it will start in Dubai and finish in Abu Dhabi, with the route passing through Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain.

Last year’s WorldTour race saw 140 riders representing 18 World Tour countries participating, with some top cycling names including Mark Cavendish, Caleb Ewan, Fernando Gaviria, Dan Martin, Tony Martin, Richie Porte and Elia Viviani all taking part.

The course is set to cover more than 1000km with an elevation gain of around 4500m throughout the different Emirates’ terrains. The start lists and an official route for the seven-day event will be revealed closer to the time.

H.E. Saeed Mohammed Hareb, Dubai Sports Council Secretary General said, “The UAE Tour is the only UCI WorldTour race in the Middle East and demonstrates perfectly how together we can host an elite sporting event and with it showcase our region to the world. It was an amazing accomplishment to be a part of the team staging the first UAE Tour and we know that for the second edition we have made developments to make it even more exciting.”
