The US Open champ Rafael Nadal and runner-up Daniil Medvedev take to the courts at this year’s Mubadala World Tennis Championship 2019…

Tennis fans get ready, as the Mubadala World Tennis Championship (MWTC) is returning to Abu Dhabi this December with some huge global tennis stars set to take to the courts.

It will be the 12th edition of the competition, which will take place from Thursday December 19 to Saturday December 21 at the International Tennis Centre at Zayed Sports City in the capital, a week earlier than when it typically happens.

Standard adult tickets are available online at ticketmaster or Virgin Megastores across the UAE, priced from Dhs100 on Day 1, Dhs250 on Day 2 and Dhs350 on Day 3. Three day packages are priced from Dhs520 per adult.

The championship will see six male and two female players compete, where spectators will not only get to watch the matches, but also have the chance to interact with their favourite tennis legends, with autograph opportunities, meet-and-greets and seeing training sessions first-hand.

The line-up so far…

The first big names to be announced in the men’s line-up includes legendary tennis ace Rafael Nadal and Russian pro Daniil Medvedev. The two recently faced-off in a thrilling final at the US Open earlier this September with Rafa beating Medvedev 7-5 6-3 5-7 4-6 6-4 to clinch the win in four hours and 50 minutes – making that Rafa’s 19th Grand Slam title. No doubt Daniil will be out to even the score when the two face each other again in Abu Dhabi this December.

Family-friendly fun…

As ever, the MWTC is a family friendly event with the first day, Thursday December 19, seeing children under 12 entering for free with the purchase of an adult ticket. There will be plenty of child-friendly activities available in the Tennis Village to keep them entertained.
