You can even check-in your luggage, leaving you free to explore Dubai before your flight from DXB…

Good news for cruise ship passengers connecting through the city to Dubai International Airport (DXB) and beyond, as you’ll now be able to check in for Emirates flights at Port Rashid.

There are now eight check-in desks at the remote check-in terminal, which will be Emirates’ first outside of the airport. Passengers disembarking cruise ships at the port will not only be able to check in, free of charge, for their upcoming flights, but also check in any heavy luggage too.

This means that you’ll be free to explore the city in the time before your flight, and then go directly to DXB. You’ll already have your boarding card with you, and your suitcase will be safely stowed on the plane waiting for you.

Emirates staff will be able to issue boarding cards up to four hours before any upcoming flight departures, meaning you can cram in some Dubai sightseeing before you fly, even if you don’t have much time.

The service will be available throughout the Dubai sailing season which takes place between October and April each year. In this season, 198 cruise ships are expected to dock at Port Rashid, with over 280,000 passengers having onwards Emirates flights.

Mohammed Mattar of Emirates Airport Services, said “We are committed to provide a seamless and hassle-free travel journey for our customers. With the increasing popularity of Dubai as a cruise tourism destination, we have ensured that every touch point in our customer journey for this important traveller segment is thoughtfully served.”

He added, “Our first remote check-in facility at Port Rashid will allow cruise passengers with onward flights the freedom to explore Dubai during their short transit having dropped their luggage and completed check-in formalities.”

Ready, set, explore…
