1. Try out a brand new restaurant 

Get ready to head down the rabbit hole into wonderland at Alice, the brand new fairy-tale inspired restaurant that’s just opened in the Sheraton Grand. Not content with just providing delicious dishes, expect an immersive and theatrical experience, with a DJ spinning decks from behind a grand piano-disguised booth and performers mesmerizing the room on a central stage. The menu boasts an interesting mix of modern-European dishes combined with Japanese influences, like the chicken teriyaki pizza with kizami wasabi.

2. Call the boys, there’s a new gents’ night in town

Brilliant ladies’ night deals have long been a Dubai institution, but now some of the city’s bars and restaurants are evening out the playing field with more deals for the guys. El Sur have just launched their Matador gents’ night, promising to be a ‘sophisticated evening of Spanish tradition’. Every Wednesday for Dhs195, guys can feast on an array of traditional Spanish tapas and BBQ-style meat with four drinks, from a selection of Spanish beer, red sangria or red wine.

3. Get your thrills at an action-adventure park

Cool action-adventure park, Aventura, is reopen for the new season complete with all your favourite tree-climbing, rope-swinging, zip-wire and bridge-balancing activities, plus some brand new offerings including a mini kids club with nature trails focused on sustainability and education. Located in Mushrif Park, the park is great fun for people of any age, whether you’re taking the kids for an exhilarating day out or really just want to be a big kid yourself. Tickets are priced at Dhs185 for adults and Dhs150 for kids below 1.4m. Just watching? You can for Dhs10.

4. Spend the day at a luxe new pool

Found by the east lagoon pool, La Piscina by Palazzo Versace is set to transport guests to a summer spent on the Amalfi coast, with comfy sun loungers lining the lagoon-sized swimming pool that boasts a super sized swim-up bar. Adjacent, you’ll find the restaurant, where guests can choose to dine al fresco in private cabanas, or just opt to order dishes directly to their sun lounger. The venue opens each day from 10am to 7pm, and runs a Monday ladies’ day, sushi special on Wednesdays as well as a Saturday brunch.

5. Gather your friends for a big group getaway in Hatta

Craving a little escape from the city? Four gorgeous new farmhouses are now available to book in Hatta, an hours drive out of Dubai. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Hajar mountains, you can choose from four differently-styled villas, from the rustic to the more modern. Each one sleeps between 8 to 15 people and come with their own private swimming pools, making it the perfect staycay for large families or a big group of friends. 6. Hit up an awesome new ladies’ night

SKY2.0 is one of the city’s coolest open-air clubs. After a summer hiatus, they’re back, and have just introduced a new ladies’ night every Wednesday called DSTRKT, serving up hip hop, urban and R&B tunes with DJ Danny Neville. Girls get unlimited free drinks from a selection of wine, beer and spirits from 10pm to 4am, so it might be worth booking that Thursday off work and kicking off your long weekend.

7. Get your pulse racing on the new zipline tour in RAK

Newly launched in Ras Al Khaimah is the “Jebel Jais Zipline Tour”, a course of seven ziplines that fly over the grand cliffs and canyons of Jebel Jais. Connected by nine platforms, the cluster of seven ziplines cover a total distance of 5km, with the zip lines ranging from 337m long to 1km. The new Jebel Jais Zipline Tour is priced at Dhs295 per person on Sundays, Wednesday and Thursday, and Dhs345 per person on Friday and Saturday. 8. Check in for a staycation at a brand new hotel

Looking to check in to check out a new hotel in Dubai? Address Fountain Views is now open and boasts unprecedented views of Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountains as well as a direct link to The Dubai Mall – perfect for those headed to Dubai for some retail therapy. The 193-room hotel is also home to several restaurants and bars including a British local inspired by Kate Moss, Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen: Moss & Moon which promises ‘bijou refreshments and handcrafted beverages prepared by gifted mixologists’.

9. Catch a movie on the beach

Popular Dubai beach club, Azure Beach, are kicking off the winter season of their open-air cinema on Wednesday November 6, screening superhero film Dark Knight Rises. It’s Dhs50 entry and there’ll be loads of snacks available such as hot dogs, pizza and popcorn, which are the perfect accompaniment for an evening of al fresco film-watching. In November you’ll also be able to watch F8 The Fate of  the Furious and Suicide Squad.

10. Check out a new gym

From the team behind the award-winning The Platform Studios in Dubai Marina comes The Platform Studios DIFC, a 10,000-square-foot fitness centre that fuses cutting-edge equipment with the latest in wellness technology. It boasts one of the city’s most varied, and packed, schedules, with more than 1000 classes each week and over 40 different activities to choose from. 11. Go to the circus with this brand new brunch

There’s no doubting the success of Secret Parties, who throw some of the city’s most popular party brunches including El Secreto at La Carnita and Secret Garden at Flair No.5. They’ve just launched their Secret Circus Brunch taking place every Friday at stunning rooftop restaurant Paru on Bluewaters Island. Expect free-flowing drinks, high-end Japanese dishes and circus themed entertainment. If you’re not done when the brunch is at 5pm, a brunch after party will open for everyone from 5pm, inviting guests to watch the sun set from the enviable outdoor terrace.

12. Get your fix at an oh-so-Instagrammable new cafe

If your favourite way to spend the weekend is sampling some of Dubai’s most Insta-worthy breakfast spots, you need Brunch & Cake on your must-visit list. Each dish is a work of art, bursting with colours and different textures making them perfect for that artsy food shot. Brunch & Cake hails from Barcelona and the cult cafe is so popular there that there are often queues out of the door for more than an hour to bag a seat at the coveted-spot. Menu highlights at the Dubai branch include mouthwatering dishes like chili scrambled eggs with avo-feta smash, corn and halloumi pancakes and caramelized red peppers.

13. Check out a new pool party

Candypants Carnival; an all-new day and night, two-part party taking place every Thursday from November 7 at FIVE Jumeirah Village. The first part is a new pool party at the hotel’s main pool. There’s packages for both girls and guys, with unlimited drinks and bites from 12pm to 4pm priced at Dhs149 for girls and Dhs249 for guys. Keep the party going with Sunset Sip happy hour from 4pm to 8pm, where you’ll get three drinks for Dhs100.

14. Breakfast in style on a stunning new terrace

Cool industrial-chic bar District have recently opened their brand new terrace, with stunning views out across to the Ain Dubai and Bluewaters Island. For those who love to breakfast, check out their weekend breakfast brunch offer, where from 10am to 1pm every Friday and Saturday, you’ll get three mimosas, a breakfast main like pancakes or eggs Benedict plus a free tea or coffee for Dhs149.

15. Be pampered at a luxe new salon

Yin Yang salon at JBR is a particular favourite of expat Brits out here. They’ve just opened their brand new salon, next to Riva Beach Club on the Palm Jumeirah, and we’re sure we can expect some of the same fantastic deals that have made them so accessible in JBR, like highlights or balayage with a cut and blowdry for Dhs650. They won’t be doing nails at their Palm Jumeirah branch but you will be able to find hair, lash extension, dermaplaning and brow services.
