High winds and poor visibility are expected this week…

Take care when driving on the roads this week, as unstable weather is on the way. National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has reported convective clouds will form this afternoon, Tuesday November 19, and increase gradually throughout the night with varying intensities of rain and some thunder.

It looks like the thunderstorms will stay until Wednesday November 20, with rainfall and wind speeds of up to 55 kilometres per hour forecast. This will blow up dust across the country, causing poor visibility along with the heavy clouds – so be careful when driving. Temperatures are expected to drop down to 25 degrees celsius.

High winds and poor visibility will continue through to Thursday November 21, with a chance of more rainfall. This will continue over the weekend with cloudy weather and chance of rainfall, and wind speeds of up to 45 kilometres per hour.

You can now keep track of the UAE weather forecast from your phone via NCM’s weather app.

As we move into winter and the temperatures continue to fall, UAE residents can expect more rainfall thanks to a new cloud seeding method being trialled by the Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP). The nano-technology aims to make the process more effective, resulting in more rainfall.
