Be good to yourself

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, with the disease being the second leading cause of death among women. Nearly half of all cases are found in those in the 50 to 69 age group, and, although breast cancer is the most-commonly diagnosed cancer in women, it can be diagnosed in men too.

Contrary to popular belief, most cases of breast cancer don’t run in the family, with around five per cent of breast cancers are caused by inheriting a faulty gene. Your wider health is also a major factor, with obesity increasing the risk of postmenopausal breast cancer by up to 30 per cent.

They are worrying statistics. So this month, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, What’s On are part of the cause, bringing you information on how can you can do your part to help save lives.
