The expensive-looking light system and beefy speakers that surround the DJ booth and bar at Eden, the new beach club on The Palm, would make a DJ drool. No wonder, then, that the likes of Above And Beyond, Steve Aoki and Sasha have already performed at the venue, with many more acts lined up.

Eden’s main stage is the focal point of the outdoor club and is a pretty stunning performance spot for musical acts. Throw in cabanas that each have individual Jacuzzi pools, plus a swim-up bar, and the whole place starts to feel very Las Vegas – and we don’t mean that in a negative way.

Eden, devised in part by the England cricket star Kevin Pietersen, also has a restaurant off to the side, which serves up salads and sandwiches as well as a more substantial sushi menu (a platter of 36 pieces costs Dhs380). The tender steak baguette, oozing with Gruyere cheese and mustard, was great, while the punchy spider rolls of soft shell crab also stood out.

Beds and loungers are available on the beach for those who want to while away the day listening to music. And for those who can’t sit still, there are paddleboards, pedelos and other watersports. Just bring a change of clothes for when the sun goes down and the real party begins.
