We’ve heard on the grapevine for a while now that uber cool Parisienne fashion brand, The Kooples, will be hitting our shores and we can now confirm their first UAE store is opening in The Dubai Mall.

The brainchild of brothers Alexandre, Laurent and Raphael Elicha, The Kooples, bring a touch of rock and roll to androgyny. With the name being a spin off on how ‘couples’ is pronounced in French, they’ve extended the theme to their marketing campaigns.

Instead of using your regular models off the catwalk, The Kooples look for real life couples (albeit, in the words of Derek Zoolander, ridiculously, ridiculously good looking) leaving the rest of us mere mortals and our other halves feeling less than adequate. Ah well, at least we can dress like them.

Also in shopping news, Turkish textile company Karaca Home has arrived on our shores all the way from Istanbul. Boasting a wide range of home and kitchenware in both contemporary and modern Turkish styles, snapping up a slice of culture has never been easier.  The new store has opened at Al Ghurair Centre, Deira.

Back at Dubai Mall, S*auce boutique is exclusively stocking the handmade arm candy that is Braided Tales. Their new trinkets feature the hash tags we’re all guilty of saying. From #sorrynotsorry to #selfie in 18-karat gold there’s a slogan for everyone.

Meanwhile, online, an ingenious new company in Dubai wants to change the way we think about laundry. Ecotowels are made from cotton and wood pulp and are 100 per cent natural. They are disposable and are thrown away after one use, saving water and electricity wastage on laundry. Ecotowels are offering a free sample to try before you buy.
