What would you pay for 12-months access to the Business Class lounge?

Some members of Emirates’ Skywards frequent flyer programme have been receiving emails offering them the opportunity to upgrade to the next tier, for a fee.

According to an email received by this What’s On staffer, the offer allows for an upgrade from the Blue Skywards tier to 12-months of Silver for a one-time fee of US$300 (approx. Dhs1,100). The offer is only valid for 7 days from the receipt of the email.

Digging into the terms and conditions, it appears that the promotion is only valid to “Qualifying Members” who have received the email from Emirates, and that the one-time fee is not fixed and varies on a member-to-member basis.

Benefits of higher Skywards tiers include everything from access to First and Business Class airport lounges to extra baggage allowance on flights.

For those who fly a lot the offer could be worth it (although many frequent flyers will have accumulated enough Skywards miles to qualify for a tier bump the old fashioned way), to take advantage you need to first register your interest via the Emirates website, and you will then be contacted within 72 hours to make payment.

We’ve reached out to Emirates to confirm if the offer is also available to Skywards members eligible to upgrade between other tiers (e.g. Silver to Gold or Gold to Platinum) and what criteria qualifies someone for the offer.

Did you also receive an email? Do you think the price of upgrading is worth it? Let us know.
