The second serving of a Dubai favourite, a new beachfront grill, a tapas bar and a brand new menu for a high-end Indian restaurant.

From unique dining experiences, to wallet-friendly dinner deals perfect for pairs, we seem to have it all.

But as the Dubai foodie scene gets bigger and bigger, we’re seeing both old and new concepts bringing a fresh approach to dining in Dubai.

Here are four restaurants and bars on our radar to check out this weekend (here are the three fresh places we pointed out last week).

THE BRAND NEW

Lock Stock & Barrel JBR: Second serving of a super-bar

What’s On’s favourite bar 2016 winner Lock Stock & Barrel has proven so popular that a second one is now open at the Rixos Premium, JBR and it’s twice the size of the original.

There is seating for up to 600 people, and will be more food-focused on the second floor once the kitchen opens. There will also be a sort of indoor street food market, with shipping containers serving Lebanese, Chinese, British, Indian and American dishes opening there soon too. Downstairs retains similar design and music elements to the original Barsha Heights venue, with a mix of high seating, leather booths and a front-facing stage.

A cool runnings (Dhs79) would be our cocktail of choice, although the menu also serves up sharing pitchers, ‘battle shots’ and craft beers.

Rixos Premium, Barsha Heights, daily 6pm to 3am. Tel: (058) 836 2891. More info on Facebook

Riviera Beach Grill: Seafood and sundowners

Another restaurant has just opened at the Rixos Premium, JBR and it looks to be a great new addition.

Riviera Beach Grill is a beachfront Mediterranean restaurant with washed white and light blue interiors that will take you back to summers in Europe. The menu has a strong focus on seafood, although there’s pizza, pasta and a rotisserie on offer too. Coupled with the picture-perfect sunsets looking out to the Ain Dubai, this might just be our new sundowners spot.

Riviera Beach Grill, Rixos Premium JBR, daily 7pm to 11.30pm until Sept 13, daily 12pm to 11.30pm from Sept 14. Tel: (052) 777 9473. More info on website

Cuisinero Uno: Contemporary tapas in a casual setting

Cuisinero Uno is a boutique contemporary tapas and cocktail bar serving upscale but straightforward Spanish-style tapas and cocktails. There’s a big focus on character, and the social media for the venue highlights the personalities of the people behind the brand, as well as the guests, venue and dishes. There’s an open-plan kitchen which serves up dishes to those perched on the surrounding stools, as well as seating in the restaurant that comes complete with exposed brickwork and graffiti. As well as a seafood and meat section, there’s also a big focus on veggie dishes, and the likes of Zucchini fries (Dhs20) and Burratinis (Dhs41) feature alongside more traditional Gambas ala plancha (Dhs43) and Palamos Octopus (Dh54).

2nd Floor, Steigenberger Hotel, Business Bay, Sat to Weds 11am to midnight, Thurs and Fri 11am to 2am. Tel: (04) 431 7816. More info on Facebook

THE MENU LAUNCH

Mint Leaf of London: A menu overhaul

Mint Leaf of London has appointed a brand new executive chef, and with it comes a new menu. Signature starter dishes include stuffed portobello with truffle dust, cooked in tandoor and topped with a truffle and mushroom sauce and a boneless duck seekh kabab with plum & chevre mousse which is skewered, seasoned and topped with a goats’ cheese mousse. For mains, expect to see the chef’s take on a rara mutton with seared foie gras, which is lamb cooked on a slow heat with onions, tomatoes and served with seared foie gras. Mint Leaf of London also has a new bar menu to compliment the new dishes, with the interiors remaining the same.

Mint Leaf of London, Emirates Financial Towers, DIFC. Tel: (04) 706 0900. More info on website.
