Middle East Film & Comic Con will take over Dubai World Trade Centre from April 5 to 7.

Doctor Who star Karen Gillan has been forced to cancel her trip to Dubai for next month’s Middle East Film & Comic Con.

The Scottish actress, who built up a loyal fan base as the Eleventh Doctor’s first companion, Amy Pond, cited scheduling conflicts as the reason behind the cancellation.

“I was really looking forward to that, and I was also really looking forward to coming to Dubai for the first time,” the actress said in a video message.

Gillan will appear on screens as blue-skinned cyborg Nebula in Avengers: Infinity War, which is set for release next month.

Game of Thrones star Carice van Houten was also due to make an appearance at this year’s convention, but also cancelled earlier this month due to work commitments.

The celebrity line-up still includes Games of Thrones star Kristian Nairn, Stranger Things star Natalia Dyer, the original Green Power Ranger Jason David Frank, and all-round action star Karl Urban.
