Customers gave suggestions via Twitter using the hashtag #ChatWithRTA

On May 31, the RTA held an open forum with customers via Twitter, fielding suggestions and ideas for helping improve both the Dubai Tram and Dubai Metro service.

Using the hashtag #ChatWithRTA, residents interacted with members of the RTA’s Customers’ Council for over two hours raising important concerns such as the overcrowding of stations and plans for the upcoming Expo 2020.

Another key area that was discussed was the complimentary WiFi service available on the Dubai Metro. In a statement release yesterday, the RTA announced that it had heard its customers concerns and that it is currently exploring options to improve both the speed and connectivity of the service.

“The Council directed the concerned parties to consider speeding up and boosting the Wi-Fi service aboard metro carriages in coordination with the concerned telecommunication company for a better service that adds to the happiness of the metro and tram riders.”

Other points raised were the possibility of introducing contactless bank cards for payment (similar to the Oyster card on the London Underground) and allowing more time for the opening of metro doors to enable riders to more smoothly get on and off at stations.
