If you’ve had your fill of mall multi-screens or worry about catching that pesky air-con cold, don’t worry. Here are some of the best places to get yourself a dose of popular culture while also adding a little style and alfresco flair to your movie nights.

JLT OUTDOOR CINEMA
The upcoming programme in the laid-back surrounds of JLT park – located between clusters O and P – is packed with independent movie screenings and cool kids’ animations. There are plenty of food options too courtesy of Wokyo, the Panifico food truck and Maria Bonita. All screenings begin at 7.30pm; just bring cushions and blankets and settle in for the night under the stars.

JLT outdoor cinema


REFORM SOCIAL & FILM
Reform has the British gastro-pub thing nailed, right down to the beer garden. But it’s become even harder to resist thanks to it’s weekly outdoor cinema experiences. Weekly screenings for adults and kids – from cult British classics to romantic comedies – are played on a giant screen on the grass by the water’s edge, with beanbags, picnic blankets and outdoor lounge seating provided. Additional food and drink, including homemade popcorn and a seasonal jugs of Pimms will be available.

On Sundays, sink into a giant beanbag with a box of popcorn or a hotdog, and watch a Hollywood movie in the cool of the night. Movies Under The Stars – the original outdoor cinema experience – is back at Pyramids at Wafi. This well-loved film night makes the best of the winter weather, with a free movie screened open air every Sunday in the Rooftop Gardens.

LA PLAYA LOUNGE
If you can’t drag yourself away from the beach this winter, then at least spend the evening at La Playa Lounge, grab some dinner at one of the many restaurants at The Beach Opposite JBR and then flop on the sofa with a shisha (and free popcorn!) on the beach for a movie.
