The worlds of sport and showbiz collided in Abu Dhabi this week as once again the F1 at Yas Marina was confirmed as one of the most illustrious events in the sporting calendar.

Among the raft of parties was the VIP Lounge, which was packed full of stalls from luxury brands in fashion, technology and more, and welcomed a steady stream of celebrity throughout the weekend. Olympic hero Sir Chris Hoy, music star Akon, and football legend Diego Maradona. Muse, who rocked the crowd at Du Arena on Saturday night, were also in attendance as the likes of Tavalon Tea (from NYC), Police fashion, One&Only Spa resorts, Yoo Moo Frozen Yoghurt, Lipsy London Dress, Patron Tequila and Blackberry kept them entertained.

Rockers Dominic Howard and Chris Wolstenholme – minus frontman Matt Bellamy – dropped by after visiting the Grand Mosque and commented how in awe they were of the structure of the mosque.

Argentinian Maradona was probably the most popular celebrity guest of the weekend, though, stopping everyone in their tracks as he mooched his way around the stalls before making off with a new BlackBerry phone and Police Watch. After enjoying Ferrari World’s theme park rides, the 53-year-old was later spotted enjoying a spot of fussball with fellow stars of world football, Raul and Michel Salgado on Saadiyat Beach.

This was the second year the lounge had laid on a perfect little hideaway for A-List visitors to the GP, having hosted Eve, Dannii Minogue, Nickelback, Lupe Fiasco, Wyclef Jean, Leona Lewis, Eva Simons and Jessica Ennis in 2012. This time around, they added, among others, Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE.
