Superstar DJ Axwell has been confirmed as part of the Sandance NYE line-up for next month’s spectacular event at Atlantis, The Palm.

The Swedish mix king will headline the 12-hour party on Nasimi Beach on December 31 as part of a line-up organisers promise to be more explosive than ever before.

And if what we’ve been hearing is confirmed, then their promises will be well kept. What’s On understands  there will be a heavy focus on dance music at the New Year’s Eve show, with the likes of Pete Tong possibly taking to the decks. Emeli Sande is expected to add a touch of glamour to proceedings.

Axwell, though, is a major coup, regardless of who joins him. The four-time Grammy-nominated producer spent the last five years as part of the Swedish House Mafia, alongside Sebastien Ingrosso and Steve Angello. His biggest hits include Don’t You Worry Child (featuring John Martin), Save The World and In My Mind.

The Swede was also part of the line-up at the 2010 NYE celebrations in Dubai, and has since gone on to make a name for himself as a remix-extraordinaire, churning out monster hits for Usher, Pharrel, and even Madonna.

The rest of the line up will be officially confirmed at this weekend’s Sandance, where Jamiroquai, Rudimental, Nile Rodgers, Martin Solveig, Laidback Luke and Basement Jaxx are set to entertain the crowds.

Last year Ellie Goulding and Rita Ora took to the stage, while Roger Sanchez, Paul Van Dyk and BBC Radio One legend Zane Lowe also performed.

Tickets for New Year’s Eve at Atlantis, The Palm, will cost Dhs395 in advance, with special VIP packages setting you back Dhs600.
